Q&A with Priscilla

What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?

My favorite animated movie is Beauty and the Beast.

What is your favorite children's book?

The Diary of Anne Frank resonated with me deeply because if such a young girl could hold onto strength, hope, and humanity while facing unimaginable circumstances, then there is no reason we all cannot strive to do the same.

What was your favorite childhood toy?

My favorite childhood toys were paper and colors because I loved to draw, create, and personalize my belongings.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

My mom inspires me because she raised five children on her own and always made sure we had everything we needed. Her strength, dedication, and unconditional love showed me the true meaning of hard work, perseverance, and never giving up, no matter how difficult life may become.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

Outside of work, my hobbies and interests mainly revolve around spending quality time with my family, especially supporting them at their sports games and school events. I love going on family vacations and also enjoy simple things like listening to audiobooks and crafting.

What inspired you to work in pediatrics?

I chose to pursue a career in pediatrics as a nurse practitioner because of my passion for caring for children and supporting families through some of life’s most special and important moments. I have always been drawn to the resilience, honesty, and spirit of children, and I find it incredibly rewarding to play a role in their growth, health, and overall well-being.

What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?

What makes me different is that I treat my patients the same way I would want my own children to be treated. As a mother, I understand how important it is for families to feel heard, supported, and genuinely cared for. I take the time to listen carefully, create a friendly and approachable environment, and explain things clearly and compassionately. I remain calm during difficult moments and always treat families with kindness and respect, which helps build trust and meaningful connections.

How do you accommodate patients with special needs?

I care for patients with special needs with patience, kindness, and thorough attention because I have a family member with Down syndrome. This personal experience has given me a deeper understanding of the importance of individualized care, compassion, and support for both patients and their families.
