Fast, accurate lab testing is a critical part of both preventive and sick care. MD Kids Pediatrics offers point-of-care testing at all locations, providing extra convenience for families who need routine lab testing, follow-up tests, or other screenings done quickly.
Convenience matters for busy families — especially when your child is sick. We know how to help your child feel as calm and comfortable as possible.
Available lab tests include:
Urinalysis
Analyzes your child’s urine to help locate the cause of problems like belly pain or fever
Strep test
Find out in minutes if your child has strep throat and needs antibiotic treatment
Hemoglobin (Hgb) test
Confirms whether your child has enough iron in their blood or is at risk of anemia
Glucose blood test
A fast fingerstick test that checks your child’s blood sugar level
Your child’s care stays connected here at their medical home
Why visit a separate facility for lab testing? At MD Kids Pediatrics, our on-site laboratory services keep you here at your child’s medical home, where they feel more comfortable — and where all testing is administered by trained pediatric staff who specialize in caring for children.
Conducting lab tests on-site provides you with faster follow-up and a more seamless experience from start to finish. All lab results are shared and discussed with your child’s primary provider, so they can quickly address any current or developing health concerns.
A urinalysis checks for various substances and characteristics in your child’s urine to help diagnose a wide range of symptoms and conditions. UA can also show if your child has an infection or kidney issues.
If your child has a sore throat, this test can quickly confirm if it’s caused by strep throat (a bacterial infection that requires antibiotic treatment). Rapid results mean we can begin treatment right away and help your child feel better sooner.
During flu season, this test determines if your child has the flu virus. Diagnosing the flu early helps guide our treatment decisions, which is especially important for young children or those with other compromising health conditions.
RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is a common illness in young children that can lead to more serious lung problems like bronchiolitis or pneumonia. This test quickly identifies if RSV is the cause of your child’s symptoms, so we can move forward with next steps.
This test checks for the COVID virus in children with symptoms like fever, cough, or fatigue. Doing this test helps protect your family and others by confirming or ruling out the virus, especially during high transmission periods.
This routine test between the ages of 1-2 verifies if your child has been exposed to lead. Even small amounts of lead can affect how your child grows and learns, so early testing is important.
This test confirms if your child has enough iron in their blood. It is often used to screen young children for anemia, which can affect their energy, development, and school performance.
This simple fingerstick test, which checks your child’s blood sugar level, is important if they feel unusually tired, thirsty, or sick or if there are concerns about diabetes or low blood sugar.
This urine test confirms or rules out pregnancy in adolescents and teens as part of routine or symptom-based care. It’s a private, fast, and reliable test that can help guide family decisions with support from your pediatric team.
