My favorite animated movie is, "The Lion King." As a teenager I could sing and recite every word from that movie.

"If you give a mouse a cookie...", because I can relate to the snowball effect and silly consequences when I am trying to clean my house.

A baby doll my mom gifted me. It came with a bottle that when you tipped it the milk would disappear. I felt like I was a real mommy feeding my baby.

My Dad, because he was the first out of 12 siblings to come to the U.S not knowing a lot of English yet graduated with his Associates at a community college. He then pursued his A/C license after 3 attempts. His resilience, strength, and endurance showed me to never give up when pursuing your dreams.

I like to travel with my family. Lately, my favorite place to travel is to Europe. I have been to Amsterdam, Poland, Paris and Italy. A place that is on my bucket list is Ireland and Egypt.

My nursing career started with caring for the tiniest, fragile patients in the NICU. I always felt like my calling to help others was instilled at a young age when I witnessed a friend pushed to the ground by a big boy. I stood up to him and since then I always felt like everyone deserves to be treated with compassion and respect. The pediatric population to me is quite special in that their voices may be little but still need to be heard. I love interacting with children because they are like my adopted kiddos. Teens also have a special place in my heart because I have twin boys who definitely keep me on my toes

Patience, compassion and honesty is what drives me to be a competent practitioner. My special services include newborns. Helping first time parents navigate this new journey and watching these precious vessels grow, brings me so much gratitude and appreciation as a nurse practitioner.

I build a positive rapport by listening intently to my patients and their parents. After all, they are the key in helping with diagnosis. I also like to build trust by being transparent when I don't know the answer to a question. I don't mind asking a colleague for help or taking the time to research it myself. Communication is so vital because without it there is no building trust in the provider/patient relationship. 

For my Autistic patients I like to approach them slowly and read their body language. I like to tell them exactly what I am about to do. If they are uncomfortable I will not move forward. Many parents have appreciated me stopping with my exam when their child is just not having it.
