Q&A with Dr. Parker
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
Though I love all the older Disney Princess movies, Beauty & The Beast would have to be my favorite because I related to Belle in her love for reading/learning and we both have brown hair.
What is your favorite children's book?
Nubby - it is a very underrated but wonderful children's book that teaches a valuble lesson in identity and contentment.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
My favorite toys were Polly Pockets. They were so much fun to dress up and a lot more portable than Barbies.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
My mother - I would not be who or where I am today if it wasn't for her sacrificial love and encouragement to always pursue my dreams.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Outside of work you can find me spending time with my family, serving and fellowshipping at my local church, reading, and enjoying the outdoors.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I am passionate about early childhood development and working with patients and families to create a strong and healthy foundation upon which they can build a long and healthy life. I also enjoy the continuity of caring for a patient from infancy through adolescence into adulthood. I am able to support them through different stages of their lives and celebrate key milestones as well as offer guidance through the challenges that come with life.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
Having two small children of my own allows me to relate to parents on a deeper level and helps me to better communicate with my own patients.
I am very detail oriented, often seeking out the small details that can significantly impact my patient's care.
I treat all patients and their families with respect, emphasizing my role as partner and working together with parents to ensure their child receives the best care possible.
I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and have a passion for educating and supporting breastfeeding mothers and infants.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
Training at Cincinnati Children's and their renowned Complex Care clinic has allowed me to garner experience and confidence in serving families and patients with special needs including developmental delays, autism, feeding tubes, VP shunts, prematurity, chronic lung disease, metabolic disorders, and so much more.
