The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast

What is your favorite children's book?

Dr. Seuss books due to the silly rhymes and joyful nature of storytelling.

What was your favorite childhood toy?

Dolls and Barbies

Who is your greatest inspiration?

My mother, she raised me to be the woman and professional I am today. She taught me how to be kind and compassionate. When stumbled upon difficult times, she taught me to be resilient, courageous, and to be perseverant. Everything I strived to be is greatly influenced by her example. Always to better and doing it love.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

Love spending any free time with my family and loved ones. Visiting family back home in Puerto Rico. Enjoy cooking and crafting.

What inspired you to work in pediatrics?

Since I was in elementary, Science and Biology were my favorite subjects. As I advanced in school, I had many opportunities to do community service in Puerto Rico, that is where the spark of helping others started growing. I found it rewarding supporting individuals and their families during times of need and making a positive impact in their lives.
I have always had a joyful and upbeat personality, some might say silly and childish. I believe this is what made me fall in love with Pediatrics. Children are joyful, innocent, and genuine, making it a pleasure working and caring for them. I have the daily opportunity, of building trust and relationships with families and being there to guide them over the years as their littles ones grow. For me being a pediatrician, all these years has been extremely gratifying and a privilege.

What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?

Over the years I have learned many skills but one of the most important one for me is, the skill of listening, it might seem simple but in the rush of day-to-day clinic it might be overlooked. Families often mention they feel they have been dismissed or felt unheard. I strive in gaining their trust and do the best I can to educate, treat with compassion, and assist to be best of my abilities.
