Q&A with Sarah

What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?

My favorite animated characters are the Minions.

What is your favorite children's book?

Dr. Seuss is very motivational and inspirational.

What was your favorite childhood toy?

LegosMy favorite childhood toys were Legos.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

My children are my greatest inspiration to keep fighting every day, give it my best, and leave the rest to God!

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

Spending time with my children, watching crime series, and cooking.

What inspired you to work in pediatrics?

What inspired me to work with the pediatric population is because I have a soft spot for children. They are so cute and like sponges at this age because they absorb easily. When they grow up and learn from the right mentors, they thrive and know how to navigate the world as they grow. I feel being a provider to them at this age will allow them the choice to know how to manage their health physically, mentally, and educationally.

What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?

My key attribute as a provider of care is the ability to listen to my patient and their families. I work as a piece to a puzzle with patients and their families to come up with plans of care that are realistic and attainable. I see a problem/challenge; my next action is to find a solution rather than seeing it as a setback.

How do you accommodate patients with special needs?

I accommodate patients with special needs through navigating community resources, managing their care, and assisting with transitioning into the community.
