What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I have always had a special place in my heart for children. Early in my nursing career, I discovered how much I enjoyed caring for children and partnering with their families, and I knew pediatrics was where I belonged. Children are incredibly resilient, curious, and honest, and it is a privilege to care for them as they grow. After many years in pediatric healthcare, I still consider it an honor to be trusted with a child’s care.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
What sets me apart is the combination of extensive pediatric experience, advanced clinical expertise, and a genuine commitment to caring for the whole child and family. My background as both an advanced practice nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist has given me experience caring for children with a wide range of needs, including those with cancer, intensive care needs, neonatal care, and complex and chronic health conditions. I also have a strong background in care coordination, evidence-based practice, patient safety, quality improvement, and helping families navigate care across multiple specialists and healthcare settings.
I believe one of my greatest strengths is listening. I am a mother of four, and I have a 5-year-old grandson. I believe parents and caregivers know their children best, and I want them to feel that their concerns are heard and valued. I take time to explain conditions and treatment options in understandable terms, encourage questions, and involve families in decisions about their child's care. I also enjoy connecting with children at their developmental level and helping them feel safe and comfortable during their visit.
My goal is to build relationships based on trust, respect, compassion, and consistency. Whether I am providing preventive care, managing an acute or chronic condition, educating a family, or coordinating more complex services, I want families to leave feeling informed, supported, and confident in the plan for their child. I am passionate about the work that I do.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
I have experience with treating patients with special needs such as Feeding tubes, trach care , Shunts.
